My town needs more metal bands and less "indie." I'm so f**king annoyed even by that term-- all non-major label music is "indie."

just fyi, artists don't use ticketmaster. venues use ticketmaster. yes, artists have managers who book shows at venues, but you book the shows you can play and you play the shows you've got booked. if you can fill a semi-large venue you're going to be selling through ticketmaster because they are the only distributer left and they have exclusivity deals with the venues they use so no one else has a chance. artists can't change that.not saying you're wrong in calling for a boycott on the venue or anything... i'm just sick of seeing everyone from labels, to the riaa, to the venues to the fans (and yes the fans are just as bad as the rest) f**king over the artist and then blaming the artist for something like not being able to find a venue to play at that doesn't use ticketmaster.it's not even like the artist sees that great of a percentage of the money from ticket sales. just about all the money a band makes comes from t-shirts.

Apple's Macbook batteries are nothing special, they are larger then what typically comes on standard consumer laptops. Student laptops are usually slightly more expensive because of the larger battery, in many cases its a selling point. You can find compatible 12 cell batteries if you take the time and look since most companies also make business level products with compatible battery packs.Even if the battery ran $200 new your still way ahead of the Apple laptop for affordability. My work laptop (E series Dell) lasts more then 8 hours while I develop.

Capitalism stops being capitalism when there is no competition, or chance of competition. Nevermind that having -everything- controlled by big corporations also compromises capitalism since the little guy can no longer be his own boss and earn position, or hell, even build his own corporation. The ones who try either get bought out, or sued into submission. The system is failing us.

I'm completely fine with companies being out to make a profit; it's when it gets outrageous that I have a problem. If TicketMaster wanted to charge me a $5 fee, on top of the box office price, I'd be fine with it. But I've been to concerts where the fees are greater than the ticket price. So, I've pretty much stopped going to concerts.

I stopped going to concerts every weekend in 1992 and from 1997 to 2001 traveled extensively. I had a much more realistic experience doing that than having $TM in my pocket. I guess I did my job bc they insist on raising their "$ervice" charge.
