gas2.org — There's an interesting service out there that's being advocated by a group called the Engine Repower Council. They say that instead of buying new cars, consumers should be having their old, tired engines swapped out for freshly rebuilt, waranteed version, which will increase fuel economy, reliability, and reduce emissions.

I faced this choice with my '86 Ranger about 5-6 years ago. The body looked like Hell, but was sound (I had it checked out) and I really needed a truck but couldn't afford even a good used one. For less than $2000.00 I got a fully waranteed re-built engine that's purring away happily today.

Notice how every car dealer has a repair shop. They all break down and need repairs all the time.

Hi itsthebrod, thank you for your generous response. We are fortunate that the web covers international borders and we can all communicate in some form and we are lucky that we don't require sign language to get the message across. I gather from your addy, that you linger in the back streets of the bronx and english is possibly your first language. I congratulate you for your attempts to communicate normally and obviously night school is high on your list. As far as having failed in your eyes, show me your websites, your bank account, your share portfolios and your real estate assetts and we will let the Digg members decide who has failed in life. The fact that you a hanging around a site like Digg when the other 9,999,999 members (who are webmasters) are getting rich whilst you are stagnating. Thank you for your interest. My time is short. Your time is obviously wasted with your dribble.

Hmmm, right. So when I bought my used car for $2500 cash, and in 1.5 years have only had to replace the alternator for $270, I think I'm doing pretty good. That's probably about what I'd pay on a leased car for one month. Come on, if you buy a decent used car yes - you'll have to do repairs, but if you buy smart those large expenses are few and far between. Not to mention if you pay for your car in cash, you actually own it. Good luck getting out of a lease and not being upside down, where as if I sell my car I actually get to keep the money. But no biggie, really. I do what I do, you do what you do. It's cool :)

it's a toxic component in pliable plastic called phthalimide. you can smell it because you're inhaling it.
