Kinda, but this is a good thing. I'm hopelessly addicted to launchbar on OS X. If you have some keyboard shortcuts you rarely have to touch the mouse. It's awesome. I'm glad it's finally starting to show up on other platforms (especially the application launching). Now if only windows had a good one...
I'm running Breezy, and I got this to install using synaptic.Works great, although not exactly like the one in the screencast. It doesn't seem to be quite as "smart" as the newer version.
My first thought about this was HOLY CRAP, IT'S SLICKRUN! I've used SR in XP forever, and seeing this Deskbar in Ubuntu is yet another thing that'll make me be a 60/40 Linux user instead of a 60/40 Windows user
Alright, so the deskbar is not bundled with Gnome in Dapper. It is included in the repositories. You hardly need to upgrade to get a new applet anyway.

Is that similar to Quicksilver or Launchbar on Mac OSX?

that's sweet! It's a lot like a combination of Spotlight, and Quicksilver for OSX.++digg!

KDE has this too, it's called Katapult, and it's not always on the menu, theres a keystroke combo you press to get it. Much more nice than this.
