Wow. I'm really impressed that he would actually make a comment like that. I mean, mostly just because he's a republican. His wife probably made him do it but I still think it's a nice gesture.

And if the law said you had to kill your neighbor and claim their land in the name of Satan in order to receive your tax rebate check, then would you?Laws have not always been equal with justice or human decency.IE: Slavery, women couldn't vote or own property, child labor, interracial marriage bans, prohibition (past & present)... etc. There are more than a few laws which are inhumane and unjustifiable, and Prop 8 is but one of them. It is our duty as citizens to recognize these abuses of government power and majority monopoly on our laws by speaking out in the name of humanity when we see that our laws do not reflect our values for love and life.

You abnormals have every right that normal people have. I can't marry a man, and neither can you deviant men. I must marry a woman, so you must also.

Please take your holy cow democracy and stick it where the sun never shines. "god given rights" > democracy Unless they hurt nobody they should be allowed to do whatever they want, no matter if the stupid majority likes it or not.

Being an atheist doesn't mean you can't comprehend the importance of marriage. Understanding that is the only reason people fight for gay rights. Because we understand the importance of marriage, we fight for it to be available to all. Please list the "harms of homosexuality." I'm sure finding sources wouldn't be hard, since you claim it's well documented.Your belief that the majority is always right is silly. That's what the original joke was. That "gay is the new black." Obviously we aren't literally equating the two issues. That would be ludicrous. However, it's important to note the similarities between the two. The fact that the majority rejected the ideas doesn't mean jack s**t. If that made a difference then we'd still have slavery and we would live in a patriarchal society. Saying that this is the hypocrisy of homosexuality is tantamount to saying that it is the hypocrisy of the civil rights movement.

The California Supreme Court decision that Prop 8 was meant to overturn was based on U.S. constitutional law--Loving v. Virginia, which says that marriage is a fundamental right. That means that not only Prop. 8, but the federal "defense of marriage act" is unconstitutional. If marriage is a fundamental right, then there must be a compelling state interest to discriminate against anyone wanting to marry. Can't discriminate on the basis of race (the Loving decision) therefore you also can't discriminate on the basis of sex.Let's not forget we're talking about civil marriage here. Religious views on marriage are not being affected. Approve or not, however you read your holy writ, but civil marriage should not be denied on the basis of sex.If people opposed to gay marriage really wanted to protect heterosexual marriage, they'd make divorce illegal. Heck, that's biblical. Just suggest that to your favorite right winger, and see the reaction.

What happened to the will of the people? I guess it is all good and fine until you don't agree with how the people voted...

well, sir, i'm almost positive you're not getting a sex change operation. also, the difference government funding and this is that this is a restrictive right -- its designed to limit the allowance of a certain legal action, and you getting your sex change would be a... aesthetic medical operation...oh yeah, and you'd be gay in that case too.either way, you might consider comparing gay marriage to something a little more realistic to make your argument. for example, if you want to piss everyone off and say the wrong thing in an argument, say this: "gay is a choice and doing crack is a choice" -- thus comparing two unrelated things and indirectly calling gays crackheads -- this is bad. A better argument would start like this: "same-sex marriage will have a negative affect on the heterosexual lifestyle because _____," or "gay marriage limits my own rights because _____" -- you get my point. you should work on that
