news.com — It looks like the bottom has finally fallen out of Blockbuster. After numerous failed attempts at attracting new customers, the company has finally bit the bullet and is spiraling out of control. Sad as it is, the end is near for Blockbuster and all that pressure it has been placing on Netflix has been lifted.it has closed 526 stores

Ooh, TRON is coming up in my queue. I just watched Sleeper last night. If you've never seen it, it's Woody Allen and Diane Keaton, and it's uproariously funny in that nerdy, dystopian kind of way. TRON is worth seeing just for the crazy awesome special effects and incredible Wendy Carlos score.

Every time i go into a blockbuster store something is different. They accept my coupon. Now they accept it on weekdays. Now they dont accept it at all. You get two free rentals a month with their mail rental thing. So then they accept two coupons at a time. Now they don't. I just wish that for once, when i go in there it will be the same as last time. They are constantly changing the rules and its annoying. I was actually going to switch to Netflix next month anyway, but it does make me happy that their stock is worth a whole 5 bucks.

Blockbuster Online will be increasing their subscriber fees up $2 on 12/27/2007 .... i don't agree with this at all and i'm sure ALOT of you in the online communites feel the same way.......... BlockBuster coporates decision was a very bad business move and BAD Timing end of the year and within the x-mas holiday = BAD idea.So i sent an e-mail to BlockBuster corporate relations this morning, i was not intrigued at all with their response.. ------------ E-mail a sent to BB corporate relations 12/20/07 ----------It is with great disappointment I am sending this e-mail to BlockBuster corporate. This is an extremely bad business decision... this is the 2nd or 3rd price hike for 2007 offering NO incentive to the existing customers. Currenlty I am paying $9.99 for 1 movie unlimited and 2 in-store exchanges. as of Dec 27 my plan is being hiked up to $11.99 (what does the subscriber get out of this price hike? Nothing from what i've seen) ; The new customer signup under "how it works" plans reflect $9.99 on blockbuster's online site , If I was to cancel my subscription and re-sign back up with blockbuster at the $9.99 plan as noted above, would I immediately be charged the $11.99 or only be billed the $9.99 price? ....... I do not agree with your corporate decisions on these service price hikes, especially to the exisiting customers that have been loyal to the service since the online services was offered whom spread the word about BlockBuster Online. (Please Do Note: the increase in subscriptions was Solely based on existing subscribers whom spread the word about blockbuster online by either "word of mouth" or "online forums/threads/communities".) This morning upon receiving the e-mail of the "price hike" I was irrate on another price hike and almost immediately cancelled my subscription, so i called the Customer Services line @ 866-692-7892 (which i sat on hold for 20 minute before i spoke to an actual person) to see if this was actually true and what would be offered to existing subscribers. They indicated this was a corporate decision and could not provide me a phone number to contact corporate directly... only an e-mail and address which i have a feeling will be ignored or trashed if received by corporate relations. When i asked the representative what incentive could be offered to me to keep my subscription (such as coupons or something) or to keep me from canceling to go to NetFlix, the representative said there is nothing she can do nor will anything be offered. BAD BAD BAD BAD business.. The e-mail I received this morning 12/20/2007 "To continue to bring you the unmatched convenience of both online and in-store DVD rentals" ==> I don't see how i am being convenienced, more of major inconvenience forcing me to go elsewhere. This is a very bold business decision corporate made which may end in the result of loosing many, I mean very many blockbuster online & in-store subscribers, as upon reading forums and threads from the last price hike earlier this year Blockbuster is getting SLAMMED hard by the actual consumers. Don't believe me perform a google search and review your feedback responses. Be prepared to be slammed even harder this time around by the communities ... With facilities now such as Web 2.0, the consumers essentially drives the business to produce the revenue for your companies, having corporate greed will invoke mass revenue losses........It would be best to take care of the customer, as of right now many of your blockbuster subscribers are highly considering canceling their subscription and going to "NetFlix" ....... Whats worse, this price hike is occuring during the holidays at the end of a year.... Bad Idea..!.. Bottom Line: Take care of your existing customers or loose them ALL.. the online community can make or break a company, this is a changing generation, the customers are 1st and foremost... I would expect an e-mail response from blockbuster online Corporate customer relations.. Regards; a very Disgruntled subscriber, ------------- Below is BB corporate relations Response 12/20/2007 -------------Thank you for your feedback regarding our price restructure. We want you to know that your comments and concerns are being compiled for the Executive Management Team. We do appreciate the time you spent to let us know your opinion and we hope you continue to choose Blockbuster for your entertainment needs. Please know we won't be able to personally reply to this email or make any changes to your membership at this time, but this information will be reported to our executive team.Kind Regards,Blockbuster, Inc. Below is an e-mail I sent to blockbuster corporate/relations and I thought I would fwd this to your NetFlix customer relations for review/consideration for future. I may be a NetFlix subscriber here very soon along with a flood of others whom will be walking away from BlockBuster and not looking back. Upon your review of the e-mail strings below, do note my comments made and Blockbuster consumer relations response, which I don't think is a satisfactory response. I am part of a well known global company (kept confidential for legal reason) which we are the building blocks of Web 2.0 architecture. This day and age the online communities have the ability to "spread-the-word" at a phenominal speed ..... Blockbuster Online may very well be the first victim on a large scale. I do hope NetFlix will not follow Blockbuster's business decisions / methods and keep the consumer and existing customers satisfied and content. Regards, a soon-to-be new subscriber to NetFlix.----------- ----------------- ------------- -------In conclusion, All, we as consumers Do in Fact have the upper hand, we can break a company with the tools we have online and the enormous amount of communites that can spread the word... It has become a consumer driven market , corporate big-wigs cannot function to make revenue without us...If you agree to this posting or want to add to it, please do so..... lets take the reigns and blow corporate heads off using our knowledge in this virtual consumer world to reach more and more people...

Seriously Blockbusters you can go suck a left nut because as soon as they get rid of no more late fees and took away 1 week rentals on video games and made it 5 days and charged a $1.25 for everyday extra u keep it. If u want to stick the knife in further they made it cost f**king $9.47 for a f**king a 5 day rental so ya gamefly here i come f**k YOU BLOCKBUSTERS u shall not be missed.
