slax.linux-live.org — Everything you modify, create or download during a Live-CD session is kept in memory until the computer is rebooted; then it's all lost. More precisely, it WAS lost until SLAX came out and the new era of portability began...

So, this means that I can open a live distro on any computer, and download a file off of a filehost and have a desktop that's pretty much the one I use at home?

infra172, one of the GREAT things about LiveCDs is that you do not need a harddrive to run a full featured OS. Were you previously aware of this fact and just trying to be funny, or are you actually that clueless?

am I the only one who has known this for a very long time?

This is very old news? The feature came out quite long ago... But I guess while you're at it, you should try MySLAX Creator. It lets you config your SLAX distro w/ packages you want directly onto your flash drives (or burn it to a cd). Pretty neat. Of course, if you like tinkering w/ stuff you can always partition your thumb drive into two parts and mount all your files onto one partition and put ur iso on the other. Pretty neat too..

Great idea but stupid way to do it. I make up a passphrase and thats my username/password together?! What happens if someone else decides the same thing. Surely a simple sign up for a username/password on the website would be much better!

needs to be able to specify a proxy and proxy parameters to be ultimately useful. I can't see the option for that.

err what if your not on a connection with a dhcp server????? I mean come on none of my networks use dhcp for security reasons, so this is sort of useless, until you set the network settings up, oh and thats half of my session. still tho, its a nice idea, for the rest of you, digg for me.

@ DiGiTaLFX the likely hood of some one having the EXACT same 10 character passphrase as you is extremely unlikely. thats why you are advised to make it complicated with letters and numbers, not just a couple words out of the dictionary.the more complicated your pass the safer you are.yes;"54fyvderqo"NO;"woodcatdog"
