somafm.com — A bill has been introduced that will save independent internet radio by setting these royalties at the same level paid by satellite radio services, and nullifying the CRB royalty rate that was in many cases several times the total gross revenues for indie webcasters. Call your congressman and ask them to support this bill!

Um, you do realize that there are internet radio stations for virtually every genre and type of music (many more genres and artists than are featured on broadcast radio stations), and you can create your own custom stations with Pandora. And you can even make your own internet radio station with some software that plays whatever music you own. So, basically saying internet radio sucks is like saying you hate the normal broadcast radio and all genres and artists and all songs ever created. In that case, why did you even comment?

Dude, the royalty rates being set by the music industry backed Copyright Royalty Board *IS* Internet regulation. What this does is make that stupid legislation less painful to independent Internet broadcasters. Not all regulation is bad, just bad regulation is bad.

I just became aware of this today from Pandora radio. I listen to netradio almost all day and would be forced to illegally download MP3s again if this netradio service was discontinued! This is not a threat, it is more of a reality. Quality netradio is key to anti-piracy!
