Apart from NPR for my commute, I never listen to any terrestrial radio. It's a vast wasteland of commercial crap and crappy commercials.I've bought far more music (on CD and from iTunes) that I've heard at Radio Paradise and on other Net stations than I ever would have from listening to any terrestrial radio stations. And this whole "let's charge Internet radio higher royalties" thing is crazy talk.
I listen only to Radio Paradise and hear new music all the time - then I go and buy the CD if I like it enough. I'm sure there are better ways to make sure the Record companies oops I mean Artists can collect royalties from all profiting parties. I will make an effort to call my Congressperson, who is a fair minded and intelligent person (who knew? In goverment no less!) and ask him to please look into this issue
Let's help Radio Paradise and all other independent Internet radio stations.Tell your representative about this. e-mail, call do what you have to do to get the word out there.Alvaro
I live in a lightly populated area where broadcast radio has been really bad for a long time. Internet radio and particularly Radio Paradise has rescued me from FM oldies and sports talk. I've bought a lot of music based on RP play. More broadly, internet radio is the low-hanging fruit of what has been largely a free medium, don't let the Feds and connected corporations run the net.
I look at it this way.B&R put a lot of work and personal sacrifice into doing somthing that they enjoy and also provides enjoyment for a lot of people. They are not getting rich off of this. They don't have buckets of cash laying about. These rates are more of a penalty, instead of a fair reimbursment to the artists for their work.
I'm miffed that the RIAA is trying to kill my favorite music source, Radioparadise, and all internet stations for that matter. I'm a Long time member and contributor of RP. I'm still a little baffled that Clear Channel does not pay the royalty fees...I think there needs to be an investigation...I think some body's sleeping in the RIAA's Bed. If that can be proven...then it stands to reason we could bring down both Clear Channel and the RIAA...and that would be just Ducky!
Radio ParadiSE and all internet radio need support. The RIAA and Clear Channel are monopolizing music and radio just like the robber barons back at the turn of the 20th century and need to be broken up and destroyed just as Teddy Roosevelt did back then.
I've listened to Radio Paradise for over a year now. I try to check out other streaming stations and always come back to RP. They deserve every bit of support for producing the best mix out there. Check it out and you'll want to digg this, donate, write to Congress, do what you can.

I've been a loyal listener for 5 years and Bill and Rebecca are the best on the net.Do NOT pay them, move to Canada, or Mexico. Keep the signal alive.
