@esquilaxBecause the EFF has so much power in this place? Sure, they're help little by little where ever they can, but it's quite plain that the EFF has absolutely no power whatsoever to fix the recording industry. At all.
my god I don't what I would do if my sole source of trance music and house music and smooth jazz, where to disappear.....GOD SAVE DI.FM, SKY.FM, SHOUTCAST.COM.....................and please slay the RIAA while you're at it..........
The day I heard a local band playing on Pandora I printed their biography and ran around the neighborhood showing it off to everyone I know. Of course, people in the real world thought I had printed up something off the Internet and couldn't understand what I was saying. Still, I knew the world had begun to change as I imagined being able to hear music from many different artists from the city I live in. I proudly signed and delivered my message, but I'm aware of the fact that the same greed behind this fuels the favoritism which has destroyed public radio. We can write to our congressmen and hope to change their world, but I also invite you to write to the artists that you enjoy on the Internet and get them more involved with internet radio stations such as Pandora.
1. If Internet radio was threatened in Europe, would North Americans help? I doubt it, and I'm North American.2. Save Internet radio assumes that if all these stations in the US die, there's nothing left. That's insulting to Europeans and the rest of the world.3. My heart absolutely goes out to Soma FM and other favourites who are stuck with this horrible state of affairs. If I could sign a petition I would - American only again.4. Start streaming from somewhere else and pay royalties there. That's what I do.Please stop thinking that Americans are the only one who have Internet radio and that the free world will collapse, it makes it hard to sympathize.
I did my part in this. I sent faxes and emails to my 3 representatives in Congress. I am a daily Pandora listener and I will be very angry when they shut it down. After reading the news I called Rep. Gerlach and reached his secretary. I told her that I and a constituent and I want him to support this new bill.

Hello,Please support a boycott against the major record labels starting on 5/15/2007.(Please forward this email to people you feel care about this issue)This boycott is in protest of the royalty increases that are being applied against all internet radio broadcasters. As some of you know, and many may not know. In March of 2007 the Copyright Royalty Board,at the request of the major music labels, increased the royalty fees of internet radio broadcasters. This will put most of them, including most of the music channels on www.live365.com, out of business. Many members in congress oppose this fee increase and there is currently a bill in congress calledthe Internet Radio Equality Act (H.R. 2060) designed to reverse the fee increase. However, this bill may not pass in time to save internet radio. Many of our congressional representatives see the increase as bad for artists, smaller music publishers, and listeners, because new artists and small publishers aren't well represented over broadcast radio. It was not the artists asking for this fee increase. You can read more on this by searching on key words such as Internet Radio Equality Act or going to www.live365.com or savenetradio.org. Please avoid purchasing CD's from any major record label for the next 3 months, or until the News reports that theRecord companies have responded to this boycott and have reversed their stances on these fees. Also, please let the record companies know that you are boycotting them. A & M Records: <a class="user" href="http://www.amrecords.com/">http://www.amrecords.com/</a> Capital Records: <a class="user" href="http://www.hollywoodandvine.com/">http://www.hollywoodandvine.com/</a> Columbia Records: <a class="user" href="http://www.columbiarecords.com/">http://www.columbiarecords.com/</a> Elektra Records: <a class="user" href="http://www.elektra.com/intro_frame.asp">http://www.elektra.com/intro_frame.asp</a> Philips Music Group: <a class="user" href="http://www.philipsclassics.com/">http://www.philipsclassics.com/</a> RCA Victor: <a class="user" href="http://www.rcavictor.com/">http://www.rcavictor.com/</a> Rhino Records: <a class="user" href="http://www.rhino.com/">http://www.rhino.com/</a> Sony Music <a class="user" href="http://www.music.sony.com/Music/index2.html">http://www.music.sony.com/Music/index2.html</a> Universal Music Group: <a class="user" href="http://www.umusic.com/static/index.html">http://www.umusic.com/static/index.html</a> Virgin Records America <a class="user" href="http://www.virginrecords.com/">http://www.virginrecords.com/</a> Warner Bros. Records <a class="user" href="http://www.wbr.com/">http://www.wbr.com/</a> While you are contacting them, feel free to complain about their lawsuits against our children over music downloading. They could easily solve this problem by allowing low-quality music downloads from their websites,or music with short commercials attached, while also allowing download of for-fee songs at a rate, less expensive than cd purchases. This would have promoted music sales, whereas law suits actuallyhave hurt record sales (Sueing your customers doesn't help increase sales).
