I went 9 months without a job, despite applying everyday to random jobs -- including working at a cemetery. I had to ask my parents for money for rent. For a person who has always been independent, it's a very low feeling. I finally landed a job a week ago and start next Monday. I am so thankful for this job, even though the pay is s**t, i feel better about myself because i'm working.
The jobs seem to be coming back now to a limited degree, according to some of the scientific poles being taken, but the salaries are not. People should expect to work for less money on average. That's called by some economists a 'disciplined labor sector'. Disciplined means, in this instance, cowed. Credit is also far harder to get for individuals and for small to medium businesses and it costs more. Some of the new jobs may also be temporary, the result of huge Government incentives, that will also necessarily be temporary. That government money will need to be paid back. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the good ol' days to return.
Yeah, but I was never a sign of the times or a weather vane for the job market. All I did was call up fly by night temp agencies and take jobs that even the Mexicans don't want.
We have a lot of those "Now Hiring" signs up around here, too. And you know what? I know someone who's been unemployed for about a year who's applied to every single one. Some of them multiple times. Never hears back.Obviously there's a reason--maybe their resume is bad or their lack of cover letter turns people off from jobs as low-brow as McDonald's cashier or hotel maid, I don't know. But don't be a tool. There are people out there who apply for every little scrap of employment out there and get absolutely nothing.

Just goes to show, that just because someone make a lot of money, doesn't mean they are very smart.

Republicans told me he wasn't trying hard enough. Also that it was Obama's fault he could not get a job two years ago.
