blogs.computerworld.com — Samsung Electronics today rolled out a solar-powered cell phone called the "Blue Earth." The phone will be a touch-screen phone without physical buttons, like the iPhone. The solar panel is on the back of the handset. The Blue Earth phone will be made from the plastic of recycled water bottles.

I have one of those flash lights. When I bought it my flash light actually had 2 button cell batteries installed so it would look good just shaking it a couple of times, I call that cheating. Removing the batteries it still work, but you really have to shake it a lot to charge the super-cap for just some light. This method will just not work for a moby phone with display, radio communication and all.

I would buy it. Charge time should not be a major concern, especially since the sun shines for such a long time, and it will spend more than enough time out of the pocket, and it does not need to be left out in the sun to charge, it will charge inside if there is light inside, just like how solar powered calculators don't have to be held in direct sunlight to work. I hate it when people love to bash any technology which is meant to be environmentally friendly or save energy, people like that are downright evil, and stupid.
