Looks like Android SDK only allows to develop some java crap targeted to proprietary JVM from google. Why the heck I should bother myself learning proprietary Java flavor from Google? IMHO Android is weird platform. It does not uses power of Linux (and tons of good surrounding libraries) anyhow and promotes their proprietary JVM. I have no idea why this should be called cool system design. It's just a boring half-proprietary clone of these J2ME dumb phones. Linux is not even used as real OS in this design. Just engine to run crappy and useless Java. Are Google guys kidding? What their platform offers as unbeatable advantages?And why it called "open"?

It would have been nice if this article covered what they advertised, and compared the actual features and implementation of the two SDKs, not just repeat the license terms punditry that everyone and their brother has been publishing this week. I guess that would have required some actual knowledge of programming on the part of the author...
