news.bbc.co.uk— The governor of Ulyanovsk region in Russia is offering prizes to couples who have babies in exactly nine months - on Russia's national day on 12 June.

At current birth rates, Western Civilization will be around for another two generations. Europe falls in one, possibly Russia as well. It's a simple mathematical equation. The future belongs to the fecund, and the dustbin of history awaits childless societies. Remember the Shakers? Thought not. It's Darwinism at work. The atheistic, narcissistic west is not working out from a scientific, evolutionary standpoint. Will you miss it?
I just realized a couple of things...Women who are not on just the right ovulation cycle are disqualified. Also, it takes longer than 9 months to gestate a baby. It's more like 9.5 - 10. We used to just suck at detecting pregnancy.
The idea of having a day especially to promote families in Russia having more babies would be fine, but what about the Russian families I worked with in Oregon last year for nine months who moved over to the US because there was no way they could support their families over in Russia? Maybe Russia needs to improve conditions over there if they want the population to increase.
