muckmakers.com — In one of his early interviews, Rush Limbaugh explains that there is a ?formula? to his program and admits to just angering and offending people to get them to tune in, as opposed to delivering an actual intellectual conversation on the issues.

He manipulates radio listeners by telling outright lies, twisting and distorting the truth, contempt-mongering, and just generally giving his sap listeners something to look down upon to blame for their problems instead of themselves. He's a scapegoat factory.Everyone loves a scapegoat.Scapegoats and straw men. That's Limbaugh in a (wing)nutshell.

It has always been my opinion that many of the listeners of WABC sadly do not recognize that Rush and Sean continue expressing their crazy ideologies for one simple reason--ENTERTAINMENT. Instead, many listeners subscribe to their bulls**t like it is conservative scripture. WABC's radio programs really should have a disclaimer warning listeners that the views and opinions expressed by these radio personalities are of a completely bat-s**t insane nature and should never be considered a factor when attempting to formulate rational decisions in life or in a voting booth and doing so may result in a metric f**k-ton of self-loathing that will manifest itself in an outwardly obnoxious and ignorant attitude.

Those are exactly my sentiments.I don't know what the hell the point is in them trying to push the argument that conservatism is a "movement" (yeah) that needs to reinvent itself to the public, and yet when it comes to gatherings of the minds like CPAC they keep inviting staples of the Republican far-right like Rush Limbaugh to keynote for them and brand them the new faces of the party. Seems like a self-defeating effort to me.

He's actually talking about the people who DO NOT like him, not the people who agree with him. So the headline's accusation of "manipulation" actually refers to those on the "other side.""...still to find a way to make the people who don't like you enjoy listening to your program, and that is really the key to the entertainment value that the program contains."What he's done that's unique is that he's *realized* that riling people up, and taking their calls is good *entertainment*. And he even says people listen "to be entertained, to be entertained, to be entertained." (Sort of like the real estate "location, location, location" mantra.)Now, here's what he says about his message..."... They're going to be so mad during the 'song' they dont get the message. It's going to take a while before they begin to understand the message. And that's okay... the bottom line is for them to get the message." The host interjects, "and be entertained," which Limbaugh immediately agrees to.So, indeed, he's riling people on purpose. He *does* deliver a "message" -- real intellectual content -- but in a way that's riles people up -- and *not* the republicans who agree with him. If there's any "manipulation" going on (which is definitely the wrong word to use), it's directed at democrats, and those who disagree with him. As Limbaugh says, It's good for entertainment, and ultimately, ratings. -Pie

LOL! Rush is actually an insult to intelligence, but you aren't bright enough to notice!

Not really. It's just the PT Barnum theory put into practice."There's a sucker born every minute."And you know how much conservatives like sucking, don't you? [See Larry Craig!]
