dualosx.com — DualOsx is a program that will let you work with two mice simultaneously on your Mac OS X system. The program is based on the Dual Core 2 processor technology, which allows your Mac to carry out multiple commands from two mice or graphic tablets at the same time.

As a visually impaired user, I can think of one good use for this: to contrll ZoomText, though the mouse that controls the zoom window should ideally be some kind of head-tracking device, or a MacBook accelerometer, to provide a distinct interface from the real mouse.I suspect what would happen instead, is that it would zoom to both mouse pointers, and flicker around, and be useless...

Cloned Mouse?

doing this has nothing to do with having multiple cores.. it just helps because its supposedly programed to take advantage of the technology.(the poster has no friggin clue) This was done a long ass time ago on 286s /widnows3.11 as well but was useless (at the time). deskshare i think it was called. was even network capable.

You could already handle 2 mice inputs in osx using a library for the Processing enviroment on a G4.So if a cut down Java system can manage it then I'm sure regular osx can do just the same on a G4.

I've been wanting this for a while. We have 2 macs at home. But when the wife and I are looking for cheap flights, hotels, gifts, whatever, we've wanted 2 mice for the same computer. How lame is it to find a good deal on something, and from the couch I yell, "honey, check out hotels.com backslash -1324535434gtwe4/deals/dealtoday-promo-3445?" Its lame. Or I can email her or instant message, but its still lame. Click address bar, copy, open messnger, paste. Then she clicks messenger, copy, paste, return. Lame. 2 mice makes computing a little more social for once. Its nice and fun and also would be great for kids, one of whom might play a web game while the other researches bald eagles for her school report. Its cool.

Maybe they should include dual-brain technology? cos i cant think of two things at once.

did it really take you two months to come up with that?

This is a greatest idea since mouse it self. Too bad that it doesn't work. If you are too narrow minded to imagine things where you can use two pointers just don't bother to moan about "whats the use...??" I'll tell you. As a layout designer i would need this every day. Have you ever tried to sort photos with one hand? This would be so great for making newspaper layout when you have to compile articles on a sheet and you have to change their places many times... Open your minds.

The reason i found this digg is the same reason i would need two mouse pointers. Although i dont use a mac, two pointers would allow me to use a touch screen without moving the main cursor from where i want it.
joemc04Nov 1, 2007
meant to mention that i would use an "invisible" cursor for the touch screen. You know where you finger is, and that would avoid cursor confusion.

hilarious, but true.. no diggs?

I'd really like to see the ability to have two independent cursors on the same computer for this reason: it'll allow two people to manipulate the same program, for instance we do live computer generated music, sample triggering could be much more creative and coordinated and multiple effects morphed in conjunction, actually endless are the apps. It'd be pretty liberating not to have to lug two computers to every gig. Maybe Apple just wants us to buy more stuff??

This is perfect for music creation software where you need to turn one volume or channel down while raising another, too bad this actual program doesn't seem to exist.

Not sure what is so special about needing dual core... but I do admit having another mouse is handy (In photoshop I have tools on one monitor and a mouse for it and I can keep editing on my main screen using my touch pad.)
