thinkprogress.org — In an interview with North Dakota radio host Scott Hennen, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld said that “it would be logical” that terrorist groups are ramping up violence in Iraq and elsewhere to give liberals a boost in November’s election.

Ok, going on the assumption that anything someone in the Bush admin says is a lie. Which for the most part is a sound argument. Let's take a look at the facts on the ground. We're fighting a war on terror. More to the point a Battle against Al-qiada and their operatives. OBL stated long ago and repeatedly that his strategy is to bleed America dry. Use up and weaken our military and destroy our economy. (For someone with an infinitesimal army and resources in comparison, it's actually his best move) So he wants to avoid direct confrontation and keep us using up our military and wasting LOTS of money trying to chase down his operatives. Putting our military anywhere outside the country is expensive, occupying a country while simultaneously trying to rebuild it is insanely expensive. That's exactly what he wants. We're wasting trillions of dollars chasing his crippled butt around a desert with an insane arsenal in tow, while they throw cheap as snot IED's in our path.Honestly I don't think bush could play into OBL's hand any better if it was choreographed. So I can be pretty sure the last thing the terrorists want is the Dems to get in power and start using policies that will actually stop them rather than blasting everything that moves in hopes we hit someone who isn't even there.

There's also the added influence of the oil contracts in Iraq were being renewed after 75 years. I think it was Russia and China that were going to be picking up the contracts before the war, or maybe it was France and China, I forget. Either way, that whole deal is obviously gone.

The terrorists want the republicans in power so they can kick americas ass. The democrats will take away that pleasure for them.

i think both the us and the terrorists are very tired of fighting, and they think if we have a democrat president the war will stop.

Did you know that Bush let al zarqawi escape 3 times because it was more politically convenient to have a terrorist boogie man in Iraq than to actually kill a terrorist leader? Just thought you'd want to know. :P

First off isasusinfinite are you serious? They can poll Osama but cannot find him to kill him. Makes sense. I am glad you know the art of discernment.Common sense dictates that the terrorists would love the Democrats to win as the Dems like Murtha and the Mooreistas have led your party along with Pelosi. With all the Media, all the lies, all the witch hunts. The Dems are hanging on by a thread on a Sunday night before Tuesdays vote.I mean common, CNN has been running Democrat propoganda for almost a month now. Common sense hurts when smoke and mirrors is all ya got. We Right Wingers may be disgusted by our own parties execution of party principles, but we are even more disgusted by the idea of guaranteed higher taxes after a period of the greatest economy ever. More Americans own homes than ever. More people are working than ever for the longest sustained amount of time. Getting back to the point is that the Terrorists would love a time of a Weak America like 10 years ago.. Why do you think the insurgency has ramped up over the last few weeks?they know weak knee'd Dems will cry a tear and vote against Bush. The Americans who vote on common sense and not with a bleeding heart will look at the higher stakes. High taxes, and a retreat from the Middle East. Leaving Iraq and Afghanistan to fight off terrorists who will claim their share of those countries, and then use their victory to embolden them further against us.
