kotaku.com — Playstation Portable will have a much slimmer design, new LED screen that will deliver an ultra-crisp image, battery life which can last as much as four times longer than the original PSP, much faster load times, 8GBs of internal flash and redesigned controls.

I think "slimming" the PSP is a great idea. Although I originally owned a PSP I ended up trading it in at EB. The thing I did not like about the PSP was it's size. Sure it had a really nice screen but it's bulk just meant that I would never slip it into my pocket and carry it around for things like MP3, email, web browsing etc. If I ever brought my PSP out it was strictly to play games. It seems like any topic mentioning Nintendo or Sony turns into a slug fest between the fanboys. Honestly there are advantages and disadvantages to any gaming media. UMD can store up to 1.8 gig and NDS cards store maximum 128 megs. I'm guessing for the average game designers/port-over guys it would mean games based on a UMD media will have larger content, better graphics etc. However I strongly disliked the UMD because of the unbelievably slow loading times. I actually remember many times I would start loading a game, then interest level will run out and I would just turn off the PSP. However I don't believe Sony used the UMD because "there was nothing better around at the time". Sony has always been a big company geared towards making a profit (duh). Because they are such a big brand name in the electrical consumer industry, I believe they attempted to introduce a new media and bludgeon other companies into adopting it. Although I think they have ultimately failed with the UMD, who can blame them for trying? If you ran a big cooperation you would definitely considering doing the same. But to summarise, PSP = many titles where you can sit for hours and get lost in a game. NDS = many titles where you can play a game while on the sh@tter. :)

the short coming of the psp is the controls. its too basic and majority of the games are bad.
