I won't get pissed off. I'm happy with the MacBook Pro I have. If the new processors do become available, good luck to those who buy a MacBook Pro in the future. Progress is a good thing.

Yeah, thank god. Not only are upgrades faster, the chips are faster, and Apple's whole upgrade schedule is accelerated due to having to "keep up with the Jones'"

"I hope they found a way to deal with the heat issues first..."Merom chips'll run a lot cooler than the current chips, so swapping them out *IS* taking care of the heat problem

I have been waiting a very long time for this. The Intel switched forced me to wait and see and then reading about Merom and all the advice against "revision a" products made me wait again. But now I think the computer that I have been waiting for is about to be released. I still have some patience left but it looks as if all my waiting will finally pay off. I hope the rumors are true.

Waaaaaaaaait a minute. Look at that article. It says "Monday, July 23rd." Now unless they're talking about 2007, Monday is the 24th.

Same for me. I figure that even if the update goes into the school year I can survive for a couple months on the computer lab.

This is a silly statement. You know that since the Core 2 Duo processors will be shipping in new laptops by Apple's competitors (Dell, HP, etc) that Apple CANNOT not ship a new laptop? If Apple doesn't do this then their competitors will hold a performance advantage over them. Unfortunately, this does mean that Apple's customers will need to get used to the PC world's speed of advancement when it comes to new processors and the like. A computer bought today will now be obsolete by the time the courier turns up to deliver it. However, this also means that we no longer have to wait YEARS for some real portable processing power. As far as I am concerned, this potential announcement should be greeted with "Hurrah!" rather than "Boo!"

im bored of this waiting game. Im gonna buy a refurb macbook pro now-i doubt a 20% speed boost will really affect performance much, and i doubt 64 bit architecture will help me.A new case with more usbs would be nice though
