kotaku.com — An inside glimpse into how the nation's biggest game store is reacting to next gen. Namely: the Wii kiosk will require a credit card to use in store, Zune won't be doing gaming in the near future and Gamestop hates Sony.

FTA - "Another tipster emailed us to tell us that Gamestop was getting the only Wii kiosks as a thank you for selling the most Nintendo consoles, for what it's worth. "I think the reason is simply because only a game boutique like Gamestop can insure the integrity and longevity of their kiosks. Can you imagine what one at Wal-Mart would look like? The freakin controller would be destroyed immediately.

It's better than a blood or semen sample, I guess.

Now the real question is: Was everyone in the pictochat room on their DS again during Sony's little underwhelming GameStop presentation? And if yes, I want pics! :D

gamestop isnt anti ps3, at least corperate isnt. they are still having them push the ps3 in a big way (check out the store relays). the only reason that gamestop may come off as anti-ps3 is because originally sony promised 2 million units and cut that down to 400000. combined with the fact that japan just got a price cut and na didnt. any anti-ps3 comes from the employees not the corperation. another reason for the anti ps3 is having to explain to everyone why they are not taking reserves (each gamestop will be lucky to get 5 units and the in store kiosk counts as one of theyre allocated units). again, this is due to sony shorting everyone for systems. another reason is that the system is $600 (come on, would a real gamer buy the $500 system?). gamestop pays theyre employees crap, even they're managers

nintendo could put it into the wiimotes something that only allows them to work with that one specific system. but that would cause more trouble then it would solve

Pretty much every GS/EBGames I know doesn't have any sort of security system like that.

I absolutely love this idea considering I work at EB Games/Gamestop. I am sick and tired of kids coming in and spending 3+ hours just sitting there playing games. We're not a babysitting place! The problem is that my store is in a mall so mom/dad comes in drops their kid(s) off and proceeds to go shop and then 2 minutes before closing comes in and asks "if I've seen their kid" which is ridiculously vague.I know it'll be a bit more work and effort to secure a credit card to hand out the Wiimote to the customer, but I think if I'm going to show the system off to a customer it wouldn't be too hard to keep it in check.
