americablog.com — This pretty much takes care of Rudy's GOP chances. The right-wing Republican leaders, including like Pat Robertson, James Dobson and Wayne LaPierre from the NRA, will never, ever let Rudy lead their Republican party. And Rudy may not like it, but that's who does control the Republican Party.

I didn't say I liked him... just that I respected him more now than I did before, which wasn't a great deal.

Am I the only one thinking -- wtf is everyone making such a big deal about gun control??Do you know what kind of weapons the American Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the "Constitutional Right to Bear Arms"? Military rifles, hunting rifles. Bolt-action weapons. Weapons to defend one's home. Not a semi-automatic Glock with a 15-round clip that any lunatic can conceal under a jacket and bring into a school or a nightclub.YOU ARE ALL f**kING INSANE - DIGG ME DOWN

"Um...no. He voted against a gay adoption program in DC because it was to be federally-funded and only included gays, not all prospective parents...which is not in Constitutional mandates. In fact, it's discriminatory."Anyone have a reference for this? This was the one issue where I didn't like Ron Paul, but if the above is accurate, I'll have not reason whatsoever not to like him. This is the bill he voted for.Official Title of Legislation:H.AMDT.356 to HR 2587: An amendment to prohibit any funding for the joint adoption of a child between individuals who are not related by blood or marriage.Project Vote Smart's Synopsis:Vote to adopt an amendment that would ban federal funding in the District of Columbia for couples who want to adopt a child but are not related by blood or marriage. Remember Google is you friend. Don't believe what someone says, good or bad, about Ron Paul. His record is all on the internet, so go and read the bill. This is a tax, so Mr Paul would vote to ban federal funding for anyone adopting. Does matter if you are straight, gay, married, or unmarried.

"Plus, what's wrong with law-abiding citizens having guns and the required training/permits?"The same thing that was wrong with the "Marijuana Tax Act". The government mandated that to legally possess marijuana, you had to have a permit. They intentionally made it impossible to get a permit. You had to have a permit before you could legally possess marijuana, but you had to have the marijuana before you could get a permit. And there was never any intention to issue any permits anyway. All it would take if there were mandatory training would be to stop having classes. Or to have a class size of 2 so that there would be 20 year waiting lists to get into the classes.LK

"There you go. I think that proves my point about maturity really doesn't it?"I note that you have not actually answered my question. Why not? Do you not actually have a rational response?

Folks, Rudy will say anything to get elected. Keep a close watch on how he says things at the debates (in front of other members of his party), vs. what he says in press releases. I personally want a President that will stick to their guns and not waver like they're unsure of what the party wants them to say.
