stephenfung.net — This is sooo not cool. It makes me wonder whenever I buy a product, based on a product review, if it was really a review, or an advertisement. The nerve of some companies asking to "check over" reviews and "reserve the right" to allow them to be posted.

newegg deletes reviews not related to the product or if it is like written by a 8 year old kid, like putting there " this is teh l33t of all cpus " or " "this rocks!! " Rosewill is a great company, i love their products so far, i never knew there were affiliated with newegg

@022AI have seen these posting rules before but I have also posted reviews that talked about how much more I liked it when they used FedEx as opposed to UPS and they didn't censor it out. I think it depends on what it is you are saying. I have seen many reviews with contents that would go against the posting rules that have not been edited out.

kalleanka Agreed, this guy is just angry, and his lack of information leads me to be suspicious. BTW, newegg has always had a policy of removing negative reviews on its own website. Terrible policy, but it just means you can't trust the average rating on there.Lurk3rBecause Digg, for some stupid reason, refuses to implement a good, threaded commenting system. Replying to the first comment increases the chances that someone will see your comment by a large %

That's what you get for not viewing reviews from an independent source. Hell, why don't you just ring up the company that manufactures the product and ask them for their 'honest' opinion.

I see awful reviews all the time on newegg. Many, many 1 star reviews that say "Dont Buy", or "Awful". I don't know why newegg reviews have even been brought into this. I HAVEN'T bought dozens of items because of the reviews. I think everyone who talks about their reviews not showing up didn't check back the next day or violated some other policy.I've had 3 problem orders with newegg that were cleared up in no time. The love you get is equal to the love you give.

New York, actually. Pretty close, though (in light's eyes, at least).

I had purchased a product from an online vendor and received an email pointing to three review sites and letting me know that for each positive review I would receive a free gift. Each gift was an older version of a software product that was useful to me. I was accurate and wrote two reviews and wrote to the vendor pointing back to the reviews and asking them to judge the positivity as they wished of my submissions. I did receive the two gifts. And, of course, it made me appreciate that there are ways for vendors to quickly get a large number of endorsements on review sites. I know it is my responsibility to read between the lines when I'm reading product reviews and perhaps follow up with private emails to particular reviewers. (I don't recall the name of the vendor from whom I had purchased my software.)

That could simply be a matter of them not being able to censor everything immediately, or if they use some sort of automated system, some things slip by.Not sure though, all of my experiences with NewEgg have been very positive.

People who get pissed off about "generalizations" need a serious reality check. Excuse him/her for not being able to clearly and concisely be able to construct a short statement conducive to their purpose that accurately accounts for the entirety of said subject. Doing so isn't always easy, much less possible.
