what do you want to call them?Retarded, stupid, dumb, idiot, slow, special? All of those have been the appropriate word at some time, and all them have become insults. Retard is a logical term, there's no reason not to use it besides politically correct bulls**t.
thats the thing, its actually better for them to stick to a word than to keep changing it. if they go from retard to "special". then special will have a negative connotation.Think of words like "dumb", "trig", "lame", "stupid", and plenty of others.

Right, so lets remove "mentally retarded". Now what are we going to use to describe the people who used to be called "mentally retarded"?It doesn't matter what they choose. Someone is going to use that term to make fun of someone else and then we'll be right back to where we are now.http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj303/Thatairso ...

Well in the UK the word "spaz" is offensive to people with Cerebral Palsy, but it's pretty benign in the US.

So I guess the treadmill reverts to "s**t for brains" once more.

oh come on, people are already bitching about "disabled". The new term? "differently abled". I just want to puke sometimes.
