I am honestly not even a Ron Paul fan. I just wanted to put this up for discussion. Even for a Democrat like myself, from a 10,000 foot view, Ron has some decent arguments and viewpoints such as fiscal responsibility, constitutional rights, and staying away from wars that should not have come to pass. BUT...Personally, I don't think that Ron realizes that his party is not the party he thought he knew. The Republican Party should split in two. One being the Christian Conservative Party. One being the Corporate Republic Party. The Christian Conservative Party doesn't understand the Constitution and foundation of America is based on the separation of church and state. They also must not believe in Ron Paul's idea of personal freedoms or limited government power otherwise they would be Pro-Choice. This party is easily manipulated thru fear. Fear of going to hell. Fear of Terrorists that for whatever would go to their local mall and blow it up. Fear of anything that is different than what they experience in their day to day lives, which is generalized by small town 'real america', christian, white people. The Corporate Republic Party is the party that has been truly in charge over the past 8 years and during Reagan's run in the 80s. If anyone works or has worked in the corporate world, you shouldn't be surprised that the U.S. is in trouble after being ran like a corporation for the past 8 years. Short sighted goals, lack of willingness to fix infrastructure and internal policies that make for serious inefficiencies, overexpansion into other market opportunities, etc, just looking to make a few extra bucks for the Investment Class shareholders. This Corporate Republic Party loves the "Free Markets" to be deregulated because supply and demand is a perfect system that will fix itself, knowing full well that greed is the wrench in the system, the variable in the equation that cannot be quantified. I have been in Corporate Sales myself for 10+ years. I know damn well that if you don't regulate the way you can do business, people will lie, cheat and steal to make a buck and let someone else in Customer Care, Accounts Receivable(ie the American People) deal with the repercussions. Obviously, over the course of our American History, business has always had a serious hold on the government to help tilt regulations, subsidies, etc into their favor. But, in the past 8 years, it has been so blatantly in full view of us all that it is arrogant and borderline crazy. I know Ron Paul is not into nation building, but I wonder if he would interested in rebuilding our own nation by getting out of Iraq (an idea he supports) and taking even half of the money being spent there to rebuild America to make us stronger and more self reliant. Against Ron Paul's ideals, we have gone to Iraq to assure that we both control the oil energy sources to ensure that the US can continue to consume oil at record rates and oil companies can reap HUGE RECORD profits. If we were to follow Ron Paul's ideals of American self reliance, then we should be fully investing in restructuring our electric grids to efficiently bring on new energy like wind and solar. We should be fully investing in American resources at home and putting alot of people formerly in manufacturing jobs that have gone overseas into new industry jobs like solar and wind energies. And once we helped get that ball rolling, we slowly pull back the government involvement(incentives/subsidies) to allow competition and free market to take care of itself with basic regulations in place that allow for growth but don't allow for cheating the system like the problems in the Financial Sector Crisis. The American Government should be like a good referee. They called a great game. They didn't let obvious fouls go unchecked and they didn't get super involved and call ticky-tack fouls. At the end of the game, you shouldn't even notice that they are there.
When I'm 70 and my grandchildren ask "Why didn't you vote for Ron Paul? He would've saved the country from absolute ruin..." With a clear conscience, I will reply, "I did. I did..."
