filmwad.com— Universal Pictures has just sign Desperado/Spy Kids mastermind Robert Rodriguez to direct an upcoming remake of 1968's Barbarella.

Not too long ago I read an article which stated that Drew Barrymore was gonna play Barbarella. Frankly that disturbs me more than Rodriguez directing it ...
The comic book was by a French artist, Roger Vadim was French and the original Barbarella was filmed mostly in France (perhaps with some scenes done at Cinecitta in Rome). I love Italian films, but the 1968 Barbarella was pretty much an all-French production.
I've seen the original movie yesterday.i really hope it doesn't come to a remake.i can't imagine that it will have the same feel to it.just as the feel was gone when i saw the remake of charlie and the chocolate factory and the Italian job (of which i also saw the original recently).I'd say;better leave the classics alone

I don't think they'll ever remake Blazing Saddles because you can't say the word 'gentlemen' anymore.

It's a shame, but Sin City is his only movie worthy of prefixing his name as a director.

Agreed, she is so irritating, and simply not sexy as Barbarella should be.

An earlier post shows Kate Beckinsale as being Barbarella in this remake. http://digg.com/movies/Kate_Beckinsale_Is_BARBARELLA

He might as well cast his girlfriend Rose McGowan now that they're out in the public together.
