No, buckshot loads don't have a big slug in the middle (usually). The most common form of buckshot (00 Buck) uses .33 inch, shot. My 12gauge 2 3/4" shells of 00 buck have 9-12 projectiles (depends on the load). 12ga 00buck Magnum loads (usually in 3" and longer shells) can have 15 or more 00 projectiles. Exotic composite loads have existed that mix shot size and can even include a slug but I don't think it was ever a popular way of formulating a load. They tended to pattern poorly. And they wouldn't call it a buckshot load. It'd be more like a wacky "I can't figure out what I'm shooting at load."
