As a Mexican who is really aware of the problems we have here, I would ask you not to judge all the country just because you had bad experiences at the border. Yes, we have VERY corrupt areas, I won't deny it; but there are many other places were Americans and foreign people in general all very welcomed and very respected. I know my country is not even close to be the best one, but there are still some places worth visiting, and as long as such places exist I have hope that we can change.
Mexico may have problems. And Mexican police may be corrupt as hell. But the minds and hearts of the people on this comment thread for the most part is where I have found the true cesspool, filth, "s**thole." If you will.
DUh....how long have you lived in Texas...you should know that being robbed in Mexico, even by police, is always a possibilty. You shouldn't travel there alone...don't drive your car there...don't let anyone see your money...hide your money somewhere other than your wallet (leave a little money in your wallet for the thieves) put the rest in your shoe or shorts or something.
AAAAALRIGHT i've just registered to put a comment on this bunch of xenophobic comments that only creates ignorance and a generalized view about mexicans and even latins, first corruption exists almost in every country and of course tourist are more propense to it, in Mexico there are human rights and embasies too specially phone numbers to denounce cases of corruption, it's just absurde that a police officer can take you to jail for no reason (at least you were drunk or something.. springbreakers) so it would help a little if you guys just get a little information and more planning on you next trip and you won't be bothered. By the way Mexico it's not a third world country, wtf with "DO NOT GO TO MEXICO IF YOU ARE A WHITE PERSON! TRUE STORY!", in all countries the're police officers that just are pigs, aaahm mexicans in the United States suffer things like this eveeeeeery day!!! and they can't be complaining about it beacuse you just think yourselves better than we are?, border mexican cities are very insecure in many ways, not all Mexico it's the same, there are white mexicans too (i can't believe i have to explain that), PLEASE DONT BE AN IGNORANT
We were robbed TODAY from a TJ cop. There was a sudden road closure (the exit to San Diego) and we in turn got lost. We were then pulled over within a minute after being redirected. Instead of helping us find our way back to towards the border, he robbed us. What his ploy was?...He said we were going 6 kph UNDER the speed limit. Yeah you read that right six kilometers per hour UNDER the f**king speed limit. He demanded that we pay him $85US or go down to the station. We came up with only $80 and he folded it up and stuffed it in his pocket, got on his bike and told us the directions on how to get back on route to San Diego. We'll never drive into Mexico again. It was my first and last time EVER in that s**t-hole Tijuana.
Taxation is extortion? Forced taxation to pay for the education, transportation, and health care of ILLEGAL aliens, wars people don't believe in, bridges to no where, and every socialist program ever thought of by Lenin is in fact extortion. I'm so worked up I'm gonna have to make a visit to my “undocumented pharmacist”.

If there is a few people in the middle of the road that want you to stop don't there highway robbers at the check points there are not just a few people there are a bunch. there are signs stating usa hassle free zone when you see these signs there is no one who can make you stop NOT EVAN the police and look if the car is not marked on the side and has no lights on the top there not police. I was robbed this last week in sonora mx and yea they took everything i owned but when it comes to the people there and the police they are as nice as could be no one knew me or my father who was with me but we had people handing us money out of there own pockets to help us get home there are some bad people anywhere you go but for the most part the people in Mexico are as nice and help full as could be. Now just something to think about What would you do to feed your family that is starving after you have sold everything you own and have no one who is willing to help you. That is what is it is coming down to in Mexico we have sent companies there to help the people but the companies have shut down so the people who where growing all there food and making a living in the towns they grew up in no long have the crops because they went to work for our companies who have closed the doors with out giving any unemployment or compensation for the people who they had working or them. Don't take it out on all of the people. And pray for the others who are also being victims of the robbers who are Mexican they are not targeting Americans it is happening to the local people as well

I think you mean oxymoron... A double negative would infer that Mexican is negative and Law is a negative...
