diveintomark.org — Apple has restricted the video content that can be shown on the new video iPod to 320x240 resolution. This sucks if you have DVDs that are not in that format. Here is a simple guide for Mac users wanting to transfer their DVDs to their new iPods. Is there a podtorrent.com yet?

I used Handbrake to rip a 90 minute DVD using h.264 at medium quality and it's 300 megs. It took 4 hours on an old eMac. On a G5, it should take about 20-30 minutes for a film. (first rip the DVD, which is quick.)

If you have a DeCSS driver installed... as most everyone does if they rip DVDs... simply install a program called SUPER.(<a class="user" href="http://www.soft32.com/download_121313.html)">http://www.soft32.com/download_121313.html)</a>Drag your movie VOB files into this program and convert it into just about ANY format, size, bitrate, etc. you want! :) I use it all the time. You'll probably want to use Quicktime Pro to stitch all the rendered files together but it works like a charm for the new iPod!You can even convert just a small portion to test your aspect ratio with and to make sure everything is the way you want it.

I use instant handbreak <a class="user" href="http://handbrake.m0k.org/">http://handbrake.m0k.org/</a> in mpeg4 and it ripped prison break in 624x352.
