physorg.com— A British study suggests the Roman Catholic Church-approved "rhythm method" may kill more embryos than other methods of contraception.

"Catholics are the only ones that actually stand up for what they believe. And you hate them because they won't sell out for an irrelevant "Buddy Jesus" mentality."Hmm. Well, I like catholics. But the church itself is directly responsible for the deathsof millions through their contraception policy. Directly. If *I* can be convicted, as just a little old individual for telling people they must do or not do something that leads directly to many other people's deaths, so can the church. They should really re-think their position on such things before someone actually holds them responsible , legally. Our last pope did a million good things and gave hope, life, charity to millions. He changed lives and influenced people when no one else in the world had the courage to reach out to certain world leaders. But none of the greatest deeds can make a great horror disappear. Faith did not save those people. But condoms would have.Let's hope Pope Benedict can look into his heart and see that thisisn't about standing your ground anymore. It's about ignorance andthe misplaced expectation on the power of faith.
Finally, someone else cares. Just a tip for those that care, THAN is used introducing the second element in a comparison, THEN is used to refer to time, or the time in question.
PhysOrg claims there is some British study. Where is it? On matters of scientific claims, it is prudent to be very suspicious if there is not some published paper to back the claim up.
@veterI never said a fertilized egg was an embryo. If you accept the common definition of "embryo" as the beginning of the stage at which this blastocyst has implated, then clearly the pill is just preventing the embryonic stage from beginning. One could also accept the wider definition of "embryo" as a fertilized egg that has undergone at least one cleavage (as Wikipedia does).Either way, I am just pointing out that the pill is designed to secondarily act abortively on a fertilized egg that has undergone cleavage (several times) and started the human development cycle. Whether you call this an "embryo" or not is beside the point.@norrisAnd many people (many Christians included) have no idea the pill *can* act this way (or choose to ignore it) and thereby put themselves in an indefensible position according to their belief system. Which, to me as a Christian, is a sad fact.
Religion takes everything that millions of years of evolution has programmed you to do in order to survive and convinces you that it is evil. Then while you too busy fighting your own inner drives to avoid the threat of "hell" it is much easier for the king or whoever to control you. It worked thousands of years ago and it still works today.

It seems strange that the article cites a professor of economics, instead of a biologist or something

I never understood why anyone would get reproductive advice from an organization of old men that like to screw little boys.

diggers are bedwetters, albeit, bedwetters with a fondness for logic and a lot of hubris

Seems to discount the fact that the INTENTION of contraception and the INTENTION of the rhythm method is not even taken into account here.
