techcrunch.com — Artists can upload their music to Amie Street for promotioni and sale. Users form social networks with friends, listen to, and purchase music. All songs are DRM-free in MP3. Songs appear to be at 192kpbs quality level, although it may just be whatever the artist uploads. Users can search, browse and listen to music for free (via streaming).

Seems like people here are not getting the three key differences:1. No drm.2. No DRM.3. NO DRM.Setting a market price for music is the right thing. Plus, their terms to customers and artists seem reasonable.

I gotta say, I love me some soundclick. I've found some fun stuff on there. (To say nothing of the stuff I have uploaded there.)

Well it's not owned by Murdoch for one thing...

I don't think I'm going to use it, but I'll digg it for being DRM free.

Thanks for all the feedback everybody. We actually weren't even planning on officially launching the alpha for another week. But things change. We didn't know about the TechCrunch article until it was published last night. There are still A LOT of bugs around. We're getting them fixed as fast as we can. If you do come across a bug, send it over to Elias by clicking on the feedback tab on the site or go to http://members.amie.st/members/feedback.php and we'll set somebody on fixing it for you. Thanks, Lucas (Amie Street CTO)

It seems like all these alternative sites to AimeSt that people are posting are either nothing like it or have only the slightest similarities (i.e. sell mp3s). I haven't seen any of the sites people have posted so far have the pricing model or "recs" model. And a few of them didn't even have the social networking aspect to them.
