ohgizmo.com— This product transforms any regular bike into a 200mpg moped, with a three-inch thick, 23cc, 1.1 HP motor integrated right into a 26 inch wheel. Just swap and go.

I've seen a bike around with a little 2-stroke engine powering the rear wheel. It's not particularly loud. This is not necessarily the same company, but it's something like this:http://www.bikemotor.com/Tecumseh49er.html2 BHP at 6000 rpm, max torque at 3000 rpm, 200 mpg, 30 mi cruising range, fuel capacity 2.5 cups (1 and 2 L tanks available). Similar specs to the Revo Power unit, but somewhat more conventional. They have a couple other models too.
Howdy, I rode the prototype in Denver last week and it’s fun. Don’t think of it like a moped, which looks pretty stupid, and it's not a lazy alternative. Pedal when you want and cruise when you want, works for me. You can ride it to work without sweating like crazy -- ditch the car and save the planet.
On most bikes you'll have an extra 35 mm to play with (100 mm front vs 135 mm rear). It'd be pretty sweet to slap on a single speed or fixed gear on this baby and go to town.I wonder what it's like to pedal a bike with one of these engines when it's not running. Obviously you're at a weight disadvantage, but do you also have to fight the engine braking losses?

Ha! Me too. I was like "Rocket Bike, sweeeeet!"

This is clever. But what really stops me from riding a bike is the fear of getting smashed by a car.

Very cool. However it is two stroke. I wonder doubt it meets CA emission standards...

hopefully someone hasn't said this...Wouldn't it be kinda un-smart to pay for a motor on a bike that you bought to pedal and exercise with?

That is a much more interesting take on the same concept, although the range is pretty short (~15 mi.)
