You cite NIN like they don't care about getting paid. Trent (amongst others) is attempting to do what's in his power to reshape a broken industry, it isn't as simple as stealing media or offering it for free, it's about affecting the business models responsible for media distribution and ensuring that 'the people who create the entertainment you enjoy' are sufficiently reimbursed for their efforts. Moreover, i'm not a teenager and have an active social life but thanks for your concern.. I also pay for my media, share files online and am an active member of various online communities. I'm a web/print designer by trade and although studied at uni, learned my trade through active online communities. You may think it sounds sad, but there are many communities online who harness the internet as more than a means to evade boredom, and 'laugh and poke fun at comments and topics' (if that's how you spend your time btw, i too would advise going outside) The net can be used to convene, share information, experiment and develop open-source tech which many people (myself included) participate in.Communities like digg can also shed light on topics not covered in traditional broadcast media, like the illegal practices engaged in by mediadefender. You act pretty high and mighty for someone who clearly doesn't have much of a clue as to how filesharing actually works but whatever, i'm not going to hold that against you.. i would however, recommend reading some literature on the merits of copyless media distribution and media business models before you cast judgment on those 'thieving teenage filesharers'.

Now we know who is responsible for a lot of wasted network traffic. It is not all the bittorrent users and pirates... frack MediaDefender in the X long and hard!

Word. I've been very busy all week. Today was the first time I've had to sit down and read Digg. I'm glad I didn't miss this. You guys need to lighten up on the "Dupe!" complaints. Who does it hurt? Just scroll past it if you've already read about it.
