"except a little smarter."In what way? He tirelessly repeats the same crap over and over again, so he sounds like a mindless drone tp me.

Blame the C++ compiler for breaking things like that then. So they had to work around it and they did. Linux NEEDS a universal distribution neutral packaging installation format. I consider all the distributions out there to be forks because none of them are really compatible with each other. It is fragmented and not good for linux in general. You need to compile your app for each major distribution because none of them are doing things in a standard way. They insist on using their own packaging format that tries to lock you into them. And it makes software development so much harder. Not to mention that software authors then need to submit their app to each distribution's repositories as well, if they will accept it. And if not, then that author is essentially screwed from most linux users because if an app isn't on their distro's repositories, then those linux users won't use that authors app. And if its an app that's not free, then that's even worse. They have to limit their software to only a few distro's and the users of other distro's all lose out. This is why a universal distribution neutral packaging format is so important.
