appleinsider.com — "The mid-2007 overhaul of Apple's iconic desktop is the first true evidence of a switch in Apple's design direction since the company's switch to Intel processors. But while it represents two steps forward in terms of ergonomics and performance, pro users may find the iMac taking one step backward."

Upgrade... Mac...Cannot compute

Your 20-inch monitor would be useless once you upgraded your computer after 2-3 years. I even compare this with my Macbook and i'd prefer it better because that iMac is just like a freaking laptop where you cannot upgrade and the monitor is stuck.

The all-in-one idea is intended to give the iMac a "home appliance" feel, since most consumer electronic appliances (cell phones, for example) are also made with a built-in screen, to take up as little space as possible. Having the monitor detached from the rest of the computer would essentially make the computer a "workstation", and I can't remember the last time that any computer manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc.) has advertised their workstations, at least far from the extent that their laptops have been advertised (Dell's new Inspiron commercials suggest that they're chasing after Sony's Vaios in the multicolored all-in-one department, which was primarily pioneered by Apple back in the late 90's with the multicolored iMacs and iBooks). The workstation's design gives off the feel of something with which you'll have to chronically entangle yourself to get working (useful for a hardware-intensive professional environment), while the all-in-one (laptop or desktop) is designed to be clean, organized and ready to use from the get-go (most useful for the home or school).

"I'm curious why they went that route"Simple... Apple wants this iMac to me known as the iPhone iMac.... Both are black and made of aluminum and glass.

I like the glossy on my Macbook, I dont have reflecton problems, and my screen is brighter.
