Here is you answer. Hezbollah and the left has been pushing the meme that Israel is indiscriminately bombing Lebanese cities, resulting in widespread destruction. Israel and its supporters have been saying that in fact the strikes were precision strikes and have pointed out that only about 5% of Beirut has been effected.So here we have a photograph altered showing a more dramatic degree of destruction. Smoke has been added. It has been darkened to create a more ominous impression. And buildings have been added as well (it's not just smoke). In short, the photo was altered to bolster the idea that the bombing was more widespread and destructive than it actually was. This after the propaganda pictures from Qana, which have been widely discussed, indicates that Reuters is not simply reporting the news, they are uncritically passing on Hezbollah propaganda. And in the case of the Beirut bombings now, they are actually creating it.

Lol, the funniest thing I think is watching a bunch of right wingers and Israelis filling their boots with man creme over a bit of smoke, and then pointing to this as 'evidence' of a Liberal/press conspiracy.First how is 'more smoke' and 'less smoke' any more or any less Liberal than anything else? I saw the before and after images and they weren't all that significantly different. If anything the additional smoke simply made the image seem a little more dramatic. But it didn't make the news report itself any more or any less truthful.In days of old, before cameras, people used to paint battle scenes - which involved using a huge amount of imagination in order to covey a story. So I don't see how this is very much different? Particularly as I said, since the smoke itself doesn't particularly say anything much about the story itself. It could still have been a lot of smoke, but little damage, or a lot of damage but little smoke. I don't see how having less smoke helps anyone?But then again, maybe saying sensible things like this is out in conflicts like this - as usually the first thing to fly out the window with any debate involving the Israelis and the middle east as a whole often is common sense.

maybe, just maybe, there is a lot of pressure to break the stories. AS such maybe a lot is now automated with computers and the internet. I have read a lot of online articles with editor comments on top with changes that need to be made. I bet that the picture never made it to print anywhere, since the editor did kill it.
