codejacked.com — Sometimes, you need to reboot Windows (e.g. when installing new software), but there is no need to restart BIOS, too. However, the default is to reboot both. (That?s called doing a ?cold boot,? rather than a ?warm boot.?) There?s a trick that works on both XP and Vista to get it to do a warm boot instead, thus saving you 30 seconds per cycle.

If you just hold the power button in for about 5 seconds, a computer will reset. This works on Macs too.

We all got pwned. It does not work. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/226939 (This applies to all 2000+ Oses.) Buried as inaccurate. This again proves why digg sucks. Giving users total control of setup like this for the purpose of submitting "news" just has too many flaws. SOME moderation automated or other wise has to happen in order to ensure stuff like this never makes the frontpage.

The easiest way is to go Actions->Reset. Takes about 15 seconds to get back. Of course, I'm using Parallels on a macbook pro.

This is actually incorrect - holding shift while rebooting does sweet f*%k all. Read the article again, and it's corrected. This only worked on 95/98, it doesn't work at all on 2000, XP,Vista, etc, etc.
