How dare they call it the 'uaser' (way-zer)? That name might alienate some people from China, who will think someone is making fun of their pronunciation. Or else, others may just be unable to distinguish between laser and uaser, when they say them in conversation. ("I said waaaaaay-zer...why can't you understand me, stupid round-eye?")
No. HSS sound has nothing to do with this. It just uses the nonlinearity of air to convert ultrasound to audible, something they've been doing since the 60's.
