livescience.com — Researchers at Auburn University have found that wearing flip-flops alters the way one walks, changing the gait in subtle ways that can lead to serious sole, heel and ankle problems. They presented these findings earlier this month at the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in Indianapolis.

"Flip-flops are named for the sound they make when you walk — flip, flop, flip, flop — but they could have been called ouch-umphs, the sound you'll make after wearing them all the time."Minus five.

I f**king hate flip-flop wearers. Feet are nasty. Disgusting tan lines on feet are nastier. People don't wash them enough, a lot of people have nail fungus problems that can spread easily and prolly 99% of people have disgusting feet that are flat, hairy, misshapen, the big toe or pinky toe is disproportionately big, or any or all of them are long or skinny or fat. They get slimy on the bottom and are a constant source of odor. I find flip-flops offensive unless you are taking a shower or at a pool or the beach. People who wear them around are generally selfish baboon-sloth hybrids who think highly of themselves for exposing their athlete's-foot riddled nasty sausage toes in public and don't mind cleaning out the toe-jam with their foot elevated to the height of the table everyone sits at. And to make it even more disgusting they are also called thongs. Which would be the exact opposite of naming a delicious cake Diarrhea-Spackled Fecal Matter Mousse. How can they dirty (just like their nasty toes and feet) such a beautiful thing as a thong. It is wrong!

Dunno why you're getting dugg down we -do- call them slippers here. But I think its because we don't have to wear those silly soft slip on shoes that mainlanders wear inside. Its not cold enough for that here. And the term 'slippers' just makes more sense as you do actually slip the shoes on. Locals brand FTW!

That was a poorly written article.

I've always thought that Flip Flops made half the people that wear them walk like they've got a serious leg injury.
