dsc.discovery.com — The study basically confirms that humans aren't alone when it comes to getting a little tipsy. Monkeys also enjoy it. The quote of the article had to be: "It was not unusual to see some of the monkeys stumble and fall, sway, and vomit," Chen added. "In a few of our heavy drinkers, they would drink until they fell asleep."

I don't know about anybody else, but I've never seen a drunken monkey phone their ex at 3am.

You think that's odd? Over at the local University they have crack smoking sheep! As for monkeys drinking beer... I'll show you friend who likes getting his dog drunk on weekends. Hows that liver doing pooch?

So, is this an actual study? Or, just the script for "Grandma's Boy 2"?

It seemed like they turned the lab into a frat house during rush week except there were no monkeys dying of exposure. They don't mention the island of Java where monkeys raid beach resorts for booze. Almost the same percentages of people who are alcoholics, social drinkers, or don't like alcohol apply to monkeys. The monkeys that drank the most were the alpha males. The monkeys that didn't like booze stole fruit drinks/soda during the same raids. It really make you think!

Wouldn't giving animals alcohol be considered animal abuse?

Wow, that was such a witty and insightful analogy you just couldn't help but repeat it, could you? It's sad that you're a high school dropout that got their ass kicked by a research scientist, but try to be smarter than a drunken monkey next time you decide to enlighten the masses.

Guess this blows the whole drunken monkey style of combat all to hell. Still prety cool.

Poor monkeys? I'd love to be in an experiment involving free booze.

@tjl2015 good concept but do you really want monkey spit in your joints?

I think it's better to say that drunk humans act like monkeys. Lol! I hate to say it but i hate when they are doing all sort of experiments on animals. I know that some scientists tried an addiction treatment on a monkey also... after forcing it to become an alcoholic. Here's the article: <a class="user" href="http://www.health57.com/addiction-treatment-center.html">http://www.health57.com/addiction-treatment-center ...</a>
