stopthedrugwar.org — The surging debate on marijuana legalization has brought with it the resurrection of the "gateway theory," which says experimenting with marijuana leads to the use of harder drugs. But the research tells a different story: "There is no evidence that the drug effects of marijuana are causally linked to the subsequent abuse of other illicit drugs."

Frankly, the gateway theory can be easily disproved, using simple logic. No "study" necessary. But it's nice to have backup to prove the point. The whole idea that a "Gateway" exists in such a way, for ANYTHING, is absurd. It's a concept born from ignorance and lack of understanding, as well as incredibly poor logic skills.Calling something a gateway to something else, because the users of that "something else" started with the first thing, is nothing more than a backwards correlation fallacy. It holds no truth in reality. The ONLY way a "Gateway" could exist, is if the vast majority of Marijuana users were guaranteed to move onto harder drugs. But that is not the reality... In fact, only a TINY percentage of pot smokers ever try anything harder, let alone become repeat users of harder drugs.Just because most people who drink beer, probably drank milk as a child, doesn't mean milk was responsible for pushing them to try beer. Why wasn't this concept completely laughed out of existence the first time someone tried claiming it?

Oh please, this is complete bulls**t. Everyone with a half a brain knows that smoking marijuana leads to harder drugs. It's a fact. You cannot dispute, plain and simple. This is just proof that marijuana kills brain cells because these obvious pot heads/taliban supporters are touting marijuana as not a gateway drug. If marijuana isn't a gateway drug then why do ALL marijuana users end up in prison addicted to meth?
