Linux users need recognition from the major hardware and software vendors in order to get drivers and software ported to Linux, the best way is to increase their market share to make them noticeable.
I normally don't comment much, but as a Software Programming major I have the urge to express my opinion. I believe Linux is cool and all, have tried it a few times (have Sabayon 3.4 loop 2 installed) and it's come a long way, but it's still not there. I don't care if you guys digg me down, but that's how I feel. For the college student like me, it's nice that there are ways to learn and practice, but I see it as a long time carreer and choice, something that will be productive and will leave you profit with what you do and that is Windows right now. Also, Industries and business still depend on Windows, because believe it or not, it works for them. But hey, I'm waiting for KDE 4, plasma and the merge of Beryl and Compiz.
some rough words there, did you get fired from your COBOL job earning 200$ per line? Vista's EULA is not worse the what you would get if you install a Google software or Apple's. Any company with decent market value (not desperate linux distros) would have strong EULA to protect their business. And price!!! you would be paying 10000$ for a PC from IBM if not for MS, linux wouldn't even have existed.
