i think the more "buckley-like" gop intellectuals are now trying to distance themselves from mccain/palin and are hoping they don't take down the rest of the party with them this election. this is very promising for obama...
Milliken is a good man, a decent man.He was a good governor for the state of Michigan. Moderate, reasonable, caring, fair.. etc.. all the things that are lacking in Bush, Cheney, Palin and McCain
A two party system with respectful disagreements and debate is healthier for our country than single-party rule (even more views would be better, but the electoral college forces a two-party structure).The Republican party as a whole has a lot of soul searching and rebuilding to do before they can rise to that standard. They have periodically shown dishonorable levels of contempt and disrespect for their Democratic rivals ever since they embraced the "southern strategy."
