gamepro.com — According to anonymous executives close to the Los Angeles Times, Sony will announce an online video service for PS3 as early as summer, presumably (or conveniently) in July at E3, gaming's largest worldwide press event.

Hoo-ray?It's pretty pointless on the 360 right now, so I can't imagine it being anything but pointless on the PS3. Wake me when someone does something new and interesting with downloadable TV/movies.My bet's on Netflix right now, provided they can work out the partnerships. There's the POTENTIAL Sony could do something interesting since they own a lot of content themselves and can license it however they want, but they're usually far too conservative, and it would be hard to get Universal and Disney and others to adopt too liberal a licensing term, even if they wanted to do it with their own stuff. (And it would be pretty confusing to split up how each movie or show is rented/purchased, depending on publisher... 8-P )

Oh thats right, you pay for pictures and themes instead - ooohh much better. Oh and if its a choice between paying for a game like GT5P or paying to use features of games I already bought, im taking GT5P anyday. Incase you didn't get what I was saying. Over on the PS3, we dont have to pay to play online.choice 1 = 1off optional payment for a game with free onlinechoice 2 = subscription fee per year for online and no game

Please just STFU

Not because of this service though, with Home being delayed again do you really expect this to come out before summer 09?

Devil's Advocate: How long has the PSP video service been on the back burner? You wanna know where all these Xbox comments coming from? People who are frustrated that everyone just forgets Sony never delivers on their promises on time, or even if they get to the whole promise at all. This unbridled optimism needs to be reined in.

Troll or not guys, are actually going to throw all precedent to the wayside and actually believe this will be out on time? I own a PS3 so I'm not fending for the 360 or anything but ask yourselves this: When was the PSP video service supposed to come out? Years ago? Digging down trolls is one thing, but pretending that Sony's been on the ball with these kinds of services is ridiculous.

Is he being dugg down because he's truspector? Because he's right on this account and probably right on his original post.

Someone mentions a delay and he's dugg down? More than any other post on the thread? You guys need to be a little more open-minded, negativity aside, this is should be an obvious concern based on Sony's record with services like these. I really wish I could get mixed opinions on gaming threads, I'm tired of being completely subject to the digg mentality such that it is at a given moment.

Don't worry, they've had a lot of practice with the PSP video service...
