There are two glaring factual errors you've made - Firstly, they never 'owned' Afghanistan - they were junior partners at best; secondly, the US withdrawal of most of its troops from Saudi Arabia occured *after* 9/11, not before, the result of spreading anti-Americanism that US response to the attacks raised. Now, AQ/Radical Islam don't have any sort of established base as they once did, but they've managed to create a franchise which can and will exist long after Osama/Zawahiri dies. In essence they've traded up from being a static threat which could coordinate spectacular terrorist attacks to an ideology which is gaining thousands of recruits by the month (or inspiring like minded groups), has drawn the US into a catastrophic war in Iraq (even though radical Islam had never before been a problem there, except in a small corner of Kurdistan) and has given hope to any extremist who previously doubted the US could be harmed. What happens to Osama doesn't mean anything anymore. If he lives, hes the villain/hero who the West cant touch - if he dies, hes a martyr to be revered and emulated.I wish it weren't so, but you're completely wrong.
The Jewish lobby is the singular biggest force pushing for sanctions and war against Iran, so it's logical that Iran would see the Jewish state as its real enemy.

Iran is afraid. The more they fear the more outrageous the declarations. Iran does not want war. They want to be percieved as the country that can threaten Israel and get away with it. Sadaam is gone and they feel they are now the big fish in the area. I don't think they are as advanced militarily as they boast. They are almost the spitting image of North Korea. The planes the get from Russia fall out of the sky. Their missile demonstration proves to be touched up. I don't think their Airforce has ever seen action. And for a country supposed to be so heavily armoured, they have so little confidence. Their economy is in shambles. I think, they think, they are on the brink of a revolution. Then there were the wars with Iraq. Iran would defend it's self, but would not attack.
I bet America does not have a plan of attack for Canada. America cannot even patrol the Canadian border effectively. Canada is too large a country to waste that many resource unnessecarily. Hell the US resources are strained as it is.
