arstechnica.com — EMI is reportedly preparing to significantly cut its funding to trade groups like the RIAA and IFPI. If true, it may force the RIAA to reassess its commitment to its ongoing legal campaign against P2P users.

Perhaps they should sell their machines to the International Federation of Pirates Interests. They seem to be doing well.

Why's the EMI looking to Slash to fund the RIAA? Wouldn't someone like Eddie Van Halen or Joe Perry be more willing?/bad joke; dugg down

From the article "...sent out letters to the Recording Industry Ass. of America (RIAA)..."That's right. The RIAA is the "Ass" of America.

I respect EMI for being the first to see the error of their ways, but the proof is in the pudding. Until they actually go through with it, it's just lip service. Furthermore, cutting RIAA funding is NOT enough to me. If they really want to show us they've repented, they should sever all ties to the RIAA outright. (To be fair, the EMI statement was far stronger than the wussy Warner Brothers 'apology', which tried to spin-doctor it to make the entire war against music consumers seem like an 'inadvertent accident' on their part.)

We can assist in cutting off the proverbial head. Two of the big four have a very strong presence on Youtube. Subscribe to the official channels of Warner and Universal Music Group, and give the minimum rating to every last music video they upload. There are 1500 posts here - imagine if even a small fraction of people did this. We can 'mod' their videos into oblivion. Here are the links:Warner: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=warnerbrosreco ...Universal Music Group: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=universalmusic ...
