"on a Windows-based ultra portable that doesnt have a dvd/cd drive in it?"where to start...#1 look at the size on a real "ultra portable" like say eeePC and tell me what exactly makes the normal sized Air an "ultra portable"#2 why did you mention Windows? We are talk about hardware, but now that you brought it up, how do you like the "Orange box" does it run well on your mac?#3 Plug in a normal USB cd/dvd drive, and not a $100 s**tty one.
You're an idiot. This is a sub-notebook, not a full-fledged notebook. If this thing had everything a Macbook had then, well, hey! It would be a Macbook! People want light, thin, and sleek. They want everything software-based. People are caring less and less about hardware. You should too.

Actually with Time Capsule, I have 1TB. I also have plenty of mini externals I'm happy to take with me.

Good call. No reason to double-up on your iTunes library.
