sfbg.com — Just when you thought the Religious Right couldn't get any nuttier... This time, they want to stop young, preteen girls from being inoculated against HPV, a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer. Why would they do this? Because it might make young girl promiscuous. Oi vey.

voisineThis tax dollars crap is hypocritical. You are conveniently forgetting the fact that my tax dollars goes to all kinds of things that I can bet a million dollars you support but that I wouldn't. Do you support school vouchers? I bet you do. But that's my tax dollars and why should my money go to private schools? What about Bush and his religious charities now able to get tax dollars? That's my tax dollars and I don't support religion. What about the ten commandments being erected in public court houses. My tax dollars supports the county and state government. So you see, it cuts both ways. But that's typical, Christians always want their cake and eat it too.

There is something intrinsically stupid about all Christians. Some Christians are less stupid, but one thing is for certain, they are all stupid.Smart people don't believe in anything cause they already know that the probability of guessing the one correct true path is near 0 given all the information.

We finally agree voisine, that there are other options. I also hate both Republicans and Democrats. I hate G.W. Bush and Hillary Clinton. I will check out your link. Thanks. Check out this short story by Isaac Asimov. I just read it and it is awesome. I'm going to submit it right now, if it's not already here. http://adin.dyndns.org/adin/TheLastQ.htm

Marksven has it right. I know many so-called Christians who will judge a stranger at the drop of a hat.... then try to invite me to their gatherings. The same people wonder why I've completely cast off religion. Two words: Independent thought. My contribution, however, is this. Some people here complain that our government shouldn't be subsidizing research like this at taxpayer expense. On the surface, this seems like a simple argument, but the implications of this are far-reaching(economically speaking). Suppose the average taxpayer has to pay an extra 25 cents for their tax-contribution toward research on this. They cure the disease. An ignorant person would contend that the cure is moot for a number of reasons. An open-minded person would realize that effects of the cure could include:-Better hospital service: Cervical cancer patients would account for fewer beds, creating space for YOU.-Lower healthcare costs: No matter how you look at it, it would be cheaper to pay for researching the cure and vaccinating people against it. The costs of treating a cancer patient are staggering. Since YOU are probably part of a healthcare plan that includes some cervical cancer patients, YOU may see lower healthcare costs.-Lower life insurance costs: These people who die of cervical cancer probably have life insurance. Some might belong to the same group that YOU do. If these people are living longer, YOU would see lower life insurance premiums.-One could also say that, since most young women are no longer dying from this affliction, they would be able to continue living and paying taxes... which could pay for YOUR vouchers.I think about this 25 cents(or 5 bucks, or even 50) and see people pay $5000 for a diamond ring which finances many wars around the world. Here we have a clear opportunity to help so many people in so many ways for so cheap, and everyone just complains about it. Is nobody interested in helping others anymore? My figures are probably way off, and I'm sure I've left out many hidden benefits, but my basic principle is this: Help others, and you are actually helping yourself. In this way, criticizing and judging others actually does damage to you. After considering this, it seems even more silly when someone says "Why should I have to pay for someone else's screwups??"

Just another political digg to try to get attention for someones agenda. Misleading, half true, all that. Get back to tech.

Good grief, it is from the Guardian. Come on people. At least use a reputable source for your bias agenda pushing.
