Actually this may be more than simple miscalculations, it may be a case of research fraud.His equations appear to be deliberately manipulated to create the results he is claiming.I consider research fraud to be one of the most despicable things a person can do.
Reminds me of the futurama episode where they discover the delivery spaceship has never moved from its starting position, it simply moves everything around it.
Seriously – this thing is still in the early stages; of course it has its critics. But it's an idea no one's tried before, and even if it doesn't make wheels and wings obsolete right away, it can at least be used in space missions. Every idea at its beginning was probably laughed off the drawing board at some point. Forgive New Scientist for wanting to highlight one that's actually building a prototype.
@TirialConservation of Momentum is not a corollary of Newtonian Mechanics.In fact, the concept of photons conveying momentum can be derived using purely classical concepts, re: Maxwell's Eqns and the Poynting Vector ...etc

Playing the Devil's Advocate for a moment, the concept is the container and the microwaves do not behave as if they are together, otherwise nothing would move i.e. for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The whole point of the theory is the spooky way the microwaves can push the container yet not hold it back. They both have different frames of reference to what is moving, but one acts on the other...OK I lost it there. It's friggin weird.
