This exchange, considered alongside the General Betray Us spectacle, reminds me of a high school hallway slap fight. Each combatant at arms length, unwilling to commit to any real confrontation (or better yet, be the bigger man and walk away), hoping to embarrass their enemy with a devastating blow. Little does each fighter realize how absolutely ridiculous their fight looks to the rest of the high schoolers. Let me see if I have this right. Reid refuses to condemn a media site (moveon.org) for trashing a 4 star general that has devoted his life to protecting this country. Reid does however find it within himself to condemn a media site (Rush) for slamming a fake soldier Jessie McBeth who never even went to Iraq. Reid is a total moron.

You have it wrong. Reid opposed the legislation that targeted specifically the MoveOn.org ad, instead supporting Barbara Boxer's resolution that would condemn, instead, all attacks against our military personnel and veterans (including the MoveOn ad). For example, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth baseless attacks on Senator Kerry's military service or the ads attacking "a Senator from Georgia who is a Vietnam veteran, triple amputee, and the recipient of a Silver Star and Bronze Star, had his courage and patriotism attacked in an advertisement in which he was visually linked to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein."All your precious republicans voted against that resolution.In regards to Rush, in the original recording & transcript (which MediaMatters posted first) Jessie McBeth was never mentioned when Rush was discussing "phony soldiers." The edited recording, now available on Rush's website, now makes it sound like "phony" was in reference to McBeth. MediaMatters has the original transcript, which tells a very different story.
