Sigh, do we really need yet ANOTHER [useless] one of these "I switched to x for y reasons" ? 1. The same features ? You wish; here are SOME of the new features in Vista - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_Vista2. They don't know you bought it, hence the whole thing - How about you follow the few steps so it goes away ?3. Wow, installing 1 or 2 apps and not being an idiot is really hard, eh ?4. So, you're still going to use it ? okay.5. When I only had a PC with Win XP @ home, and I was doing all my design related work for university on Macs while @ uni, I would simply go home, ftp into my personal storage, download my work and continue what I was doing; it doesn't really depend on the OS, as much as it depends on what programs you use, and popular ones like Photoshop, Illustrator and so on are on both sides.6. .. and mac users feel the same about apps on Windows, as do Linux users and so on.7. Who's to blame ? Most people who buy iPods have Windows and I rarely hear of problems about syncing, seems like it's a specific problem you could probably fix.8. It's widely accepted that currently, FrontRow is subpar and compared to Windows Media Centre, it has nothing, though Apple has said recently it's working on a new version which should be a lot better.9. You can do the same on Windows.10. Themes ?Even if I couldn't point out the obvious flaws in more or less, all the reasons, it's still just another random blog who wants attention, maybe if he had some unique or uncommon reasong for switching, who cares ? The old "LOL NO MORE VIRUSES AND ITS PRETTY" is fairly tired.
1. I'm sure the features will be great.... whenever it comes out. I don't want to wait.2. I'm tired of proving I bought the software. I already authenticated it back when I bought it, and entered my serial number when I installed it.3. I have virus software, and I not an idiot, but I'm not the only one who uses my computer. I have family that aren't always as careful.4. Windows is what I know. Being able to still have access is useful, even with it's flaws.5. Still doesn't hurt to be on the same OS though, even if I could still work on the files with XP.6. I can use Mac apps AND XP apps though.7. Maybe it's a problem that could be fixed, but I haven't ever found the solution. And is anyone going to argue that iPods work better with a Windows machine?8. I'm not saying Media Center isn't cool, but I don't have it, and I don't have a remote. I like that it comes free with my new computer.9. I wanna try AppleScripts. I haven't found a great way to do it on Windows yet.10. Themes only go so far. I've tried programs like Desktop X. They slowed my computer down way too much.
Build Mac's? The reason why the Mac is so attractive is precisely BECAUSE you cannot build your own. It's the tight integration between OS & hardware that makes the Mac so stable. If you managed to build your own, it would be full of the same problems that the OS you're switching from had. What's the point?Oh yeah, price. If you eat fish, expect bones, if you build your own, expect instability. Buy a Mac and you can start using the computer to create something, instead of spending all of your time trying to keep it working. Can't afford it? try ebay, 2nd hand Mac's are great value - a 5 year old Mac is still perfectly usable and capable of running Tiger (with very few exceptions).
