joystiq.com— Joystiq recently called people up asking for their blind opinion about the Nintendo Wii, without knowing what the product was beforehand. Not one of the respondants guessed that it was a gaming product

I love my PC for hardcore gaming, It has pretty graphics and great games, but consoles have thier benefits, it is hard to play 4 friends at a PC game in the same room. The Wii is great for social gaming.and as for the nameNES-SNES-N64-GCN the next console should be called the NINTENDO UBERNES64Cube
"For what appears to be virtually the entire internet and the general public, there is only one meaning that seems to spring to mind in English-speaking countries."Since when are English-speaking countries the same as "virtually the entire internet" or "the general public"? In the Netherlands for example, Wii sounds like the Dutch word for "who". No pissing associations over here as far as I know.
"One girl said it sounded like chocolate and that a game console named Wii would be as good as chocolate. Seeing as how women equate eating chocolate and having sex, I'd say Nintendo may have just created the greatest console name in history, if it's as good as sex in the minds of consumers. A surprising number of people said that is sounded sporty, trendy, simple and that it made sense as a game console name. I'm surprised."What the hell? One random girl says it reminds her of chocolate, and suddenly it's the greatest console name in history?

Wii does not sounding like a gaming system because Nintendo doesnt want us to think of it as "just a gaming system."

If you actually read the official site, it explains it far better... http://revolution.nintendo.com/ I was damn skeptical, but having seen the reason behind the name it makes far more sense. One site said, "I'd rather have a Wii than a PS3."
